Adults

Lead exposure can cause long-term harm in adults, including:
Reproductive problems, such as reduced libido, abnormal spermatogenesis, chromosomal damage, and infertility in men. In women, lead exposure can increase the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, pregnancy-induced --hypertension, and prematurity.
-High blood pressure and hypertension
-Nerve disorders
-Memory and concentration problems
-Muscle and joint pain
-Kidney damage 

Even low levels of lead exposure can cause damage over time, and many effects are -permanentEarly symptoms of lead exposure may include:
-Persistent fatigue
-Irritability
-Loss of appetite
-Stomach discomfort and/or constipation
-Reduced attention span
-Insomnia

Children

Young children are especially vulnerable to lead's toxic effects, which can cause permanent damage to the brain and nervous system. This can lead to lower IQs, learning and behavioral difficulties, hearing problems, and slowed growth. Other symptoms include:

-Tiredness or loss of energy
-Hyperactivity
-Irritability or crankiness
-Reduced attention span
-Poor appetite
-Weight loss
-Trouble sleeping
-Constipation

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1. Drink, cook with, mix formula & drinks, make coffee, fill ice trays, brush teeth and give pets FILTERED OR BOTTLED WATER ONLY.
2. Contact your doctor to request VENOUS Blood Lead Test and a COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT. See Flint’s suggested health testing
3. Contact your LOCAL, STATE & FEDERAL OFFICIALS to DEMAND:
Support Three Rivers Water

Three Rivers Demands


1. Three Rivers Mayor Tom Lowry declaring a public health state of emergency, followed by the city applying for state and federal funds.

2. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and the City of Three Rivers providing all homes serviced by Three Rivers’ water system free tap or pitcher filters and replacement cartridges immediately.

3. EGLE and the city providing lead and copper testing at every location serviced by Three Rivers’ water system.

4. The State of Michigan and City of Three Rivers having all service lines manually inspected and identified per the Lead and Copper Rule by the deadline of October 2024

5. The state and city replacing all lead and galvanized steel service lines for every location for free from curbs to water meters

6. MDHHS and the health department having venous blood testing for lead for all Three Rivers water system customers immediately at no cost to residents.
